I completely agree. My Macs (iMac and Macbook Pro) are completely different things than my iPad and iPhone (which are related, but not the same).
The other day I saw this demonstrated by my 22 year old daughter. She was using her new iPad AND referring to her iPhone for additional information at the same time.
